Politics in Uttar Pradesh has taken a new turn on 20th July 2016 when Daya Shanker Singh, UP Vice President of Bhartiya Janta Party made a prostitute remark for BSP Supremo Mayawati.

What exactly happened

  • Talking to media in Mau, Singh had said. “Mayawati is breaking the dream of Kanshi Ram into pieces. Mayawati is selling tickets like a prostitute. She gives tickets for Rs one crore and if there is someone who can give Rs 2 crore than she sells it for Rs 2 crore within an hour. If someone is ready to give Rs 3 crore by the evening, she gives the ticket to him. She is even worse than prostitute.”
  • Mayawati lashed out at the BJP for Singh’s remark saying it shows party’s frustration due to growing public support for BSP in UP, which goes to polls soon.

What Mayawati said

But, this was not the end of the Political Drama. Bhartiya Janta Party expelled Daya Shanker Singh after his remarks. On 21st July 2016, thousands of BSP supporters came on the road in Lucknow at Hazratganj near Vidhan Sabha. The  BSP supporters along with Senior BSP Leader shouted derogatory Slogans against Wife, Daughter and other females of Singh’s family.

What Swati Singh said

The drama continued and Bahujan Samaj Party came on backfoot after this protest. Later Swati Singh, wofe of Daya Shanker Singh took on BSP for derogatory slogans against her and her 12 year old daughter. Even Singh’s 12 year old daughter asked BSP leader Naseemudin Siddiqui, “Naseemuddin Uncle, kahan aana hai mujhe?”

Even a FIR has been registered in Hazratganj Police Station under Section 504, 506, 509 and many more against BSP Supremo Mayawati and other leaders of BSP by mother of Daya Shanker Singh Smt. Treta Singh for their derogatory sloganeering against the family of Daya Shanker Singh.

Interview of Wife and mother of Daya Shanker Singh

Looking at all this drama for past 3 days, it is clear that BSP was trying to take political mileage of what Daya Shanker Singh said. But, Bhartiya Janta Party immediately expelled Singh over his derogatory remark against Mayawati. Even after this BSP leaders along with a huge number of supporters came out on streets and started shouting derogatory slogans. What Daya Shanker Singh said was wrong but what BSP did was more wrong.

BSP protested for disrespect of Women and they themselves disrespected Women. All this episode in which BSP protested even after Daya Shanker Singh was expelled from the party shows that Politics in Uttar Pradesh has stooped to a new level.
