Violence Erupts in Nagpur Over Aurangzeb’s Legacy
Addressing the Maharashtra Assembly on March 18, 2025, Fadnavis suggested that the movie had reignited deep-seated anger against Aurangzeb, fueling tensions that led to violent clashes in Nagpur’s Mahal area. The unrest began after a protest by right-wing groups demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb escalated into chaos. Protesters and counter-protesters clashed, resulting in stone-pelting, property damage, and injuries to over 33 police personnel.
